Even with a powerhouse like the Wireless Ripper, getting the perfect hit can sometimes require a little fine-tuning. Here are the most common questions and how to solve them to ensure your device performs at its peak.
1. Why is my vapour thin or wispy?
- Check the Seal: Ensure the heater head is sitting completely flat on the glass diffuser bowl. The Ripper is weighted to create an automatic seal, but if your glassware is tilted, air might be leaking in.
- Heat Soak Time: When you first turn the device on, the PID might show the target temperature, but the 180 ruby balls inside need a few minutes to fully “heat soak.” Give it 5–10 minutes from a cold start.
- Draw Speed: If you inhale too fast, you might be pulling air through the rubies faster than they can heat it. Try a slow, steady draw to allow the convection energy to work its magic.
- Temperature: Try increasing your PID setting by 5–10°C. Every PID and environment is different; don’t be afraid to find your personal “sweet spot.”
2. Why does my herb look dark on top but green underneath?
- The Stir: Because this is a diffuser-style vape, the airflow is massive. For the most even extraction, use a stir tool to lightly toss the herbs halfway through your session.
- Pack Density: Do not “tamp” or pack your herb down tightly. Ball vapes work best with a loose, fluffy fill. Air needs to be able to move freely through the material.
3. My PID is showing an “EEE” or “Error” code.
- Connection Check: This usually means the PID cannot “read” the coil. Turn the unit OFF, unplug the XLR cable, ensure the pins are clean and straight, and plug it back in firmly before restarting.
- Compatibility: Ensure your PID uses the standard XLR 5-pin wiring (as detailed in our Compatibility Guide).
4. How do I change or clean the Ruby Balls?
- Safety First: Ensure the head is completely cold (wait at least 30 minutes after power-off).
- Accessing the Core: Unscrew the top section of the heater head carefully.
- The Pour: Pour the rubies into a glass jar filled with Isopropyl Alcohol (ISO). Warning: They are small and roll easily; perform this over a tray so you don’t lose any!
- Rinse & Dry: After soaking, rinse them with water and ensure they are 100% dry before putting them back into the heater. Never put wet rubies into a hot heater.
5. Can I use the Wireless Ripper with a Titanium Bowl?
Absolutely. While the kit comes with a glass bowl for the “All Glass Pathway,” the Wireless Ripper is fully compatible with our Titanium Diffuser Bowl. Titanium will provide more “conduction” heat, which can lead to even thicker vapour clouds and a slightly different, bolder flavour profile.
6. The wooden handle feels a little loose.
The Fix: Wood can naturally expand and contract with heat. Simply give the handle a gentle clockwise twist to tighten it back up against the metal housing. Do not over-tighten; just a snug fit is perfect.
Pro Tip for the “Perfect Hit”: For the densest possible clouds, leave the heater head in the dock for 60 seconds between hits. This allows the 25mm Barrel Coil to fully recharge the rubies to their maximum thermal capacity, ensuring your next draw is just as powerful as the first.
